Planning Ahead

After the holidays are over, if you thought you had a moment to relax, think again! January can be a time filled with a tremendous amount of things going on! Resolutions, planning for upcoming vacations, huge sales on Fall merchandise at your favorite local boutique (see: Sherman Pickey), and so much more.

Planning essentials include cute pink day-planner
At Sherman Pickey, I am always thinking ahead to work with our fantastic partners to bring the best events we can to the boutique. I am on a mission to make this Spring '14 season the best yet, and as I am finalizing our Spring Trunk Show/Events calendar I wanted to share a preview of the schedule as it takes shape:

Saturday, February 1st kicks off the Old Town Warehouse Sale! From 9am - 4pm, local boutiques including yours truly will have merchandise up to 80% off and will be held at the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Old Town, Alexandria. Want even better news? Admission is Free!

March at Sherman Pickey is already starting to take shape with one of my all time favorite trunk shows; Pink Tartan kicking off Friday, March 14th! Ladies, get your powerstretch dresses ready. Please, please, please, if you don't have one already - stop by and I will show you why you will want one (if not five!) in your closet. Hands down one of the most flattering dresses you will own.

We are highlighting Mott 50th on March 21st which features dresses, tops and accessories all with built in sun protection. And on March 26th we'll be showcasing Tracy Negoshian dresses as well as Tara Michelle, a new line that we'll start carrying in the Spring - think bright, colorful tops & tunics!
April is shaping up to be another huge month at Sherman Pickey; featuring Jack Rogers April 4th (yes, you read that right - you will now be able to get your all-time favorite sandals that go with absolutely everything at Sherman Pickey!

The following week, the can't miss Elizabeth McKay Trunk Show will kick off on April 11th for a full week followed by the DL 1961 Trunk Show on April 18th! More details to come on these events - but mark your calendars now and come early for the best selection!

Book Hill celebrates our French Market on April 25th & 26th which is an amazing day to spend outside browsing the racks all our local boutiques & shops! One of my favorite parts of French Market is our neighbor Patisserie Poupon cooking outside - I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. A can't miss event for our entire block.

And don't think this list is it - I am in the process of scheduling many more events including super-popular Annie Griffin (you will want everything from her Spring collection!!), Two Penny Blue (as you can never, and I mean never, have enough blazers), Sail to Sable, Mahi Gold and many more!

Stay tuned as I continue to work my planning magic into an amazing Spring season! In the mean time, stop by Sherman Pickey to snag the best deal on Fall merchandise as well as shop our newest arrivals from Resort; whether you are planning a warm weather trip or just dreaming of one!

Scenes from Intermezzo

There are many, many things that make me smile. Sitting on the beach (or by a pool) with a great magazine on a sunny day. Chocolate ice-cream. Trying on everything in my closet, which I lovingly refer to as "Fashion Show" and conduct at least bi-weekly. And at the top of the list, one of my favorite parts of my role at Sherman Pickey is traveling to NYC on one mission: buying for the store!

Badge ready

This past Sunday I took a quick overnight trip to NYC for Intermezzo. I was getting an opportunity to see Summer & Pre-Fall 2014 as well as revisit Spring '14 for anything that might have been added to the collections.

I had a full schedule for the day and a half; three Showroom appointments, twelve booth appointments, as well as a mission to see as much of the show as possible, seeing if I could find anything new and exciting for Sherman Pickey in the process!

And although it couldn't have been more rainy (or to follow, freezing cold!) outside - the Fashion never stops and it was warm and toasty inside Pier 92!
Intermezzo from above
Stops at Annie Griffin, Sail to Sable, Elizabeth McKay, Julie Brown and so many more were making me so excited for the upcoming warmer-weather months! Only 71 more days until the first day of Spring...
Everyone, and I mean everyone, will want this stunning Annie Griffin Natalie Maxi (center).
New additions will start to pop up this Spring & Summer at Sherman Pickey - including Jack Rogers, Rachel Roy, Alice & Trixie, in addition to little girls clothing from Lilly Pulitzer, Roberta Roller Rabbit, Elizabeth McKay and Sail to Sable!

Could these Little Lilly dresses be cuter? We think not - and the one fourth from the right glows in the dark!
Our Spring event calendar is starting to take shape too - stay tuned for information on trunk shows, launch parties, events and happenings at Sherman Pickey!

Location, Location, Location

Sherman Pickey is located in the Book Hill section of Georgetown, a gorgeous row of boutiques, antique stores, salons, and restaurants on Wisconsin Avenue a couple blocks north of M Street.

This block of Georgetown is truly a destination; and for such a fabulous location I wanted to provide a one-day itinerary for you to use, highlighting some of the best of Book Hill.

Start your day at Book Hill Park, located at the intersection of Wisconsin Ave and Reservoir Road directly behind the Georgetown Public Library. Grab a bench under a shady tree and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate (totally acceptable even in the summer!) while catching up on your current favorite book.

Across the street is the charming A Mano, where you can find all your gifting needs. My personal pick? You'll find ceramic (and monogram-able) ceramic trays from Jill Rosenwald that are perfect for every occasions. Make sure you get one for yourself.

Down the street in a cute little row, you'll discover The Macaron Bee which is a great stop for a snack. Bonus find is the glass Coca-Cola bottles to enjoy with your chocolate macarons (they do have other flavors, which I'm sure are spectacular, but I always and only choose chocolate).

A couple steps away is The Bean Counter, a perfect spot for lunch on the block. Take the small path leading from the street to the backyard to enjoy your lunch al fresco. Love antique shopping? David Bell Antiques should be your next stop on your walking tour, a staple for over twenty years in the neighborhood.

Sherman Pickey!
Of course you can't come to Book Hill without making a stop at Sherman Pickey! And on the off-chance that perhaps you might have passed by but hadn't taken a moment to stop in, come on over! We love making new friends.

When you walk up the steps to Sherman Pickey, you will immediately feel at home. If you took your furry friend with you out on this excersion, we have a dog bowl at the front door and t-r-e-a-t-s at the counter (I've learned better than to say that word out loud).

We offer classic, modern clothes for both Men & Women and love to help style our clients for anything they might need (a work luncheon, trip to the beach, cocktail party...). Our specialty is mixing in both the national designers that you know and love (think Tory Burch, kate spade new york, Nanette Lepore, Pink Tartan and Nicole Miller) with newer lines that you can't find everywhere, are a bit more unique and will quickly become some of your absolutely favorites (let me introduce you to Elizabeth McKay, Annie Griffin, Two Penny Blue, Sail to Sable and so, so many more!). In addition we feature local jewelry by designers Sissy Yates and Ruth Barzel. Whether you are looking for one piece or a whole outfit, we've got you covered!

Stay tuned for our calendar of events, as hosting trunk shows is one of my favorite things to do at the store and we have a huge Fall calendar lined up! At this point in the day, you might think you don't want any more treats, but then you'll see the jar of Starbursts on our counter and you might think otherwise.
As you leave Sherman Pickey, be careful when dodging traffic walking across the street to Urban Chic, our neighboring women's boutique and Lovely, a gorgeous bridal salon and the newest addition to the block.

Make time for dessert with our next door neighbors, Patisserie Poupon. Cakes, tarts, pastries - oh my! Everything is truly delicious and Ruth, Martin and the entire team couldn't be sweeter.

As you continue to stroll south on Wisconsin you will come across Nectar Skin Bar, where, in my opinion, has the best sunless spray tan around (it's chocolate, need I say more? Ok, also organic!). Ipsa for Hair will easily become your go-to salon and, as you can see, plan to arrive early for your appointment so you can take full advantage of all the neighborhood has to offer!

With so much to do (disclaimer: this is just a small portion of all our neighborhood has to offer. More to come in future posts.) Book Hill is easily the perfect destination to spend a morning, afternoon or whole day off. See you in the neighborhood!

Welcome to Two Triple Zero Seven

Welcome to Two Triple Zero Seven!

I am really excited to launch Sherman Pickey's first blog. My name is Kristin and you'll get to know me, our owner Ethan and his beautiful family, our fabulous part-time sales team and all about this amazing boutique over time through our blog.

Sherman Pickey is a men's & women's boutique that specializes in classic clothes with a modern twist. Located in Georgetown, DC, our neighborhood was our inspiration for our blog name - 20007 is our zip code! We are thrilled to announce that our online store is the newest addition to the Sherman Pickey portfolio this summer. Whether you visit us online or in-store, you will find a well-edited mix of national brands and new emerging designers that we have fallen in love with!

There is so much to talk about...this is truly going to be fun. From trunk show and events throughout the year, to upcoming trends from our buying trips in NYC, there is always something going on at Sherman Pickey. I hope you enjoy our blog, check back often! If you live in the DC area, stop by as we love to see familiar faces and meet new friends. And if you are further outside of the 20007 zip code, we look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome to the Sherman Pickey family!
